Be Part of the Fairplay Burro Museum in 2019!

Burro racers, celebrate 71 years of World Championship Pack Burro Racing in Fairplay! Share your knowledge and experience of the sport with the public during Burro Days, 2019! The Town of Fairplay will be hosting the Burro Museum for the second year because the first year was fabulous! We felt like the only thing we were missing in our museum were REAL LIVE BURRO RACERS and BURROS! We plan to use the old jailhouse on the original courthouse property on Main Street again and will be setting up a tent and pens next to the jailhouse for burro racers/burros to talk with visitors, locals, friends, family, etc. We are still working on details but we would like to ask for 1-2 hours of your time during Burro Days weekend whenever it works for you. We will have the musuem open on Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 4pm and we would like to pre-schedule burro racers into time slots so that we can advertise and promote the event and the racers that are volunteering their time to be there. Please share this information with your burro racing friends, current or retired, would love to have you all! Burro Days next year is July 27 & 28, 2019! There will be more details coming out after the first of the year. Please contact Julie Bullock, Special Events Coordinator for the Town of Fairplay if you are interested in participating in our museum fun next year. Her number is 719-836-2622 ext. 109 or email her at

The Town is also in search of items for our museum. We are happy to borrow them or take them off your hands. If you have items you would like to loan us for the weekend, please be sure each item is marked clearly with your name and phone number so we can be sure to get it back to you. We would like to have all items to us by July 1, 2019 so that we have time to work with them and get the museum ready. Burro Days does have a Facebook page as does the Town of Fairplay, be sure to "like" them so you can stay updated on "what's happening." Our Burro Days website is and the Town of Fairplay website is
